Access Tokens

What are Access Tokens?

Access tokens provide external access to you Dynatrace environment. The two types of tokens that grant access to the Dynatrace API are API tokens and Personal access tokens.

Create an API Token

1.  In the navigation menu, Go to Manage> Access tokens
2. Select Generate new token
3. Enter a name and select any scopes
   View available scopes
4. Select Generate
5. Copy the token to your clipboard and save it in a password manager for future use

You can only access your token once upon creation, it can’t be revealed afterwards. Multiple permissions can be applied to a singular token, or you can generate several tokens. Multiple tokens can have the same name, so be sure to name them efficiently.

Enable Personal Access Tokens

​Requires admin rights, see Additional Access for instructions

1. Go to Settings > Integration > Token Settings
2. Select Enable personal access tokens

Generate Personal Access Tokens

1. Go to the user menu in the far upper-right hand corner of the Dynatrace page
2. Under Dynatrace API select Personal access tokens
3. Select Generate new token
4. Type in a name
5. Select the appropriate Resource access scopes
   View available scopes
6. Select Generate
7. To save the information, copy the token to your clipboard and store in a password manager for future use
