What can you do in your User Profile?

Your user profile is where you define your preferred contact information, notification rules, user settings and manage passwords. This is where you will determine how to get notified when an incident is assigned to you.

Contact Information

Edit Personal Information

  1. Go to the User icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen > select My Profile > Contact Information tab
  2. Select the edit button on the right of each field you’d like to edit
    • Define Name, Title, Bio, Timezone

Add Contact Method

  1. Go to the User icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen > select My Profile > Contact Information tab
  2. Select Add Phone Number - adds number to be called
  3. Select Add SMS Number - adds number to be texted
  4. Select Add Email Address - adds address to be emailed
  5. Select Save
    • NOTE: The mobile app can be configured by downloading the app on your phone. Please see Mobile App for instructions on how to do this.

Test, Edit, Delete a Contact Method

  1. Go to the User icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen > select My Profile > Contact Information tab
  2. To Test - select the Test icon to the right of the contact method
  3. To Edit - select the edit icon to the right of the contact method
  4. To Delete - select the to the right of the contact method

Notification Rules

For all notification rules, navigate to the User icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen > select My Profile > Notification Rules tab. You will see sections for the different types of notification rules:

  1. When someone invites me to respond to an incident 

    1. Uses your high-urgency notification rules (below)
    2. You’ll be prompted to accept or decline the request
  2. When a high-urgency incident is assigned to me

    1. Select Add Notification Rule
    2. Enter number of minutes PagerDuty should wait before notifying you (default is 0 minutes which is right away)
    3. Select a contact method (same method can be used in multiple rules)
    4. Select Save
  3. When a high-urgency incident assigned to me changes

    1. Select Add Notification Rule
    2. Select when you’d like to be notified
      • When the incident is assigned, resolved or escalated
    3. Select a contact method
    4. Select Save
      • ​NOTE: in order to get status change notifications, you must have recieved a high-urgency notification for that incident. If you acknowledge or resolve your own incident, you will not be notified of status change. 
  4. When a low-urgency incident is assigned to me

    1. Select Add Notification Rule
    2. Enter number of minutes PagerDuty should wait before notifying you (default is 0 minutes which is right away)
    3. Select a contact method (same method can be used in multiple rules)
    4. Select Save
  5. When an incident i am subscribed to has a status update

    1. Select Add Notification Rule
    2. Select a contact method
    3. Select Save
  6. Before I go on-call or off-call

    1. Select Add Notification Rule
    2. Select the following information:
      1. Number of hours before your shift that you’d like to be notified
      2. Specify to be notified before going on-call, off-call or both
      3. The contact method
    3. Select Save

User Settings

For all User Settings, navigate to the User icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen > select My Profile > User Settings tab. In this section, you can do the folllowing:

  1. View/edit login email
  2. Edit password
  3. View Role
  4. View/edit Schedule color
  5. Sync on-call schedule to calendars (e.g. Google Calendar, Apple Calendar)
  6. View/edit photo
  7. Starting point for building your own OAuth-connected PagerDuty app
